Beware the Ides of March!

Today, March 15th, is the Ides of March. So I present to you the only song I know that is titled The Ides of March. Released originally as the lead in track on Iron Maiden’s 1981 album Killers, it’s a nice little bit of metal instrumental that shows off new guitarist Adrian Smith’s skills.

The cover is by death metal band Arch Enemy released on the 2007 reissue of their debut album Black Earth. It’s a pretty faithful recreation of the original. It’s slightly heavier with a little more showing off on guitar, but nothing that ruins the song. The reissue album also includes a pretty good cover of Iron Maiden’s ‘Aces High’ that’s worth checking out.
